The study aims to determine the dynamics of the secondary sector banks in Russia in 2004 - 2006 years. and compare the dynamics of a sample of medium-sized banks with the dynamics of large Russian banks.

The figures obtained, describing the dynamics of medium-sized banks in Russia, will form the basis of key indicators for the analysis of individual banks in this segment to determine the stability of the bank for current and future investors.

Problems solved by the study:

• definition of values ​​from a list of indicators that characterize the dynamics of development banks,

• Identify the characteristics and trends of mid-sized banks in Russia,

• selection of indicators that describe the dynamics of development and comparison with those of the largest banks:

ο resource base (bank assets and liabilities)

ο performance of banking activities (income and expenses),

ο financial soundness and stability of banks.

The study will be useful in the following categories of users:

• analytical services to banks and other financial organizations,

• users of banking services that are interested in determining the prospects for banks.

The report submitted detailed analysis of the dynamics and peculiarities of development of medium and large banks in Russia as an example pools of 26 major and 26 medium-sized banks.

The use of original methods of processing and analyzing accounting data banking, provides a descriptive and criteria of the dynamics of development of medium and large banks over the past two years. Identified indicators describe the change in bank resources (assets and liabilities), the main items of expenditure and income, quality of bank assets, their stability, long-term activities.
